Satsang & Meditation
Friday Evening Mindfulness and Meditation @ Various locations (Cheshire)
We hold Satsang (mindfulness) evenings with meditation once a month, see diary for details. These are a comfortable and social style of evening. We provide a guided meditation (various) and introduce the discussion topic for the evening, then everyone joins in if they want to discuss and share. There is no pressure to learn, remember or achieve anything. It’s simply a relaxed Friday evening with like-minded people. Primarily just a fun and relaxing end to the week with some focus on mindfulness, yoga topics and a short meditation.
There is no financial cost. However as an exchange of energies between provided and received we thought it would be nice to share food. The idea is in return for the evening session, those attending would bring some nibbles or treats (including vegetarian possibly). Teas will be provided (normal, fruit etc). As people contact us to see if there is space we would also discuss what others are bringing in order to co-ordinate the food available.
What is Satsang?
Satsang is sharing ideas with like-minded people. It is often led by an experienced yoga practitioner and gives us the opportunity to ask questions about different aspects of yoga. This may be to seek advice on personal practice, to clarify any queries about any of the practices or a philosophical enquiry. Those present may also share their experiences to help others.

We are a friendly group of like-minded people, who, share the interest to understand the aspects of yoga not able to be covered in a yoga class.
The plan for the evening would be something along the lines of the following, although at this stage we expect this may change and we are open to modifying the format should we need to:-
- Meeting and greetings
- Introduce the evening
- Meditation (duration of meditation would be as felt best by the group)
- About 20 minutes for meditation although this isn’t fixed, the group can suggest the duration.
- Introduce topic, this could be anything such as
- Yoga Sutras
- Bhagavad Gita
- Karma Yoga
- General questions
- or, somthing else
- Group discussion sharing on the topic (whilst eating food) and opportunity for questions.
- Leave or stay for longer as we wish
Your welcome to use a chair (we have some) or yoga matt, or whatever to meditate in. So please do not worry if you can’t sit cross-legged.
Space is limited to 10 places so we need to know for each session if you would like to come. Please if you do know the address, don’t just turn up unless we have you down for that week’s session. We want to avoid a crowded feeling. Please contact us to find out more, like location (Crewe, Cheshire), start time and if there are places or anything else you need to know.
Add yourself to our contact list (select satsang option) to be included in Satsang evening communications.
“Yoga Satsang is a welcome oasis in the middle of my busy and often chaotic life. The meditation gives me an opportunity to let go off the stresses of the day and reconnect with my inner self… the discussion of the yoga sutras which follows always gives me something beneficial to take away and reflect on… the sharing of food creates a sense of community and deepens relationships. The evening ends with random chatting about everything from the practise of yoga to Monty Python and much more inbetween. Russell and Ania’s hospitality and warmth create a relaxing end to the week which I recommend wholeheartedly.” Cath
